Census Bureau Estimates

NOTE: The 2000 Census count for Charlottesville City and Albemarle county were incorrect. The Census included about 5,000 people in the Charlottesville City population who City who actually belonged in Albemarle county. The Census Bureau corrected this in later population estimates but did not explain it, so some population estimates pages make it appear as if the population of Charlottesville fell by almost 5,000; this drop in population is not real. It is an artifact of the Census Bureau's correction.
